MLB news: GoFundMe begins for Pirates fan who fell from stands

Gofundme started in an effort to help pay medical costs for a 20-year-old man who fell from the stands Games Pittsburgh Pirates this week.

Kavan Markwood, a former college football player, was identified as a man which fell more than 20 feet to the right field warning.

Markwood transferred the wall fence and fell to the field in the game between Pirates and Chicago Cubs.

The game stopped immediately as the Sprintova medical staff were on the field to find Markwood without a T -shirt on the dirty warning with blood visible on his face. The coaches of both teams joined EMS to take him to the trolley of the field.

Pittsburgh Public Security said later on Wednesday that the fan was was in a critical state.

A woman identified as Jennifer Phillips is listed as Organizer of funds raising.

“I write it with a heavy heart today, but it’s hope,” Phillips wrote. “Our society has made it easier to judge an individual or a situation with social media that is always just an opinion. Keep in mind that this individual may be very special for many other people. Can you imagine what their loved ones go through? [sic] I know this young man very well and I know he is very strong, but he also fights for his young life. Please be careful during this tragic time. “

Phillips said that donations “will help with any medical account and financial difficulties this family currently experiencing.”

Markwood played for two football programs of Division II, Walsh University and Wheeling University. He played in Wheeling in 2023, appearing in four games, the team said.

“I really hate what happened tonight,” McCutchen wrote on social networks. “I can’t help, but don’t think about that guy, his family and friends. I pray for him tonight. Let’s think about his loved ones and hug our family tonight. I hope he will withdraw through. Let God bless you. Good night.”
