PA authorities properly detained Luigi Mangione in Altoona, prosecutors say


Pennsylvania prosecutors on Monday said the authorities were lawfully detained and collected evidence from Luigi Mangione, The suspect charged with the murder of executive director Unitedhealthcare Brian Thompson, during his arrest in December 2024 in Altoon, where he allegedly fled after a crime in New York.

Mangione, 26, is charged with first degree murder For the purpose of the terrorist act, decay and a series of other state and federal accusations in New York and Pennsylvania, for the alleged shooting of Thompson, a 50-year-old married father of two children, on a Pločnik on Manhattan on December 4, 2024.

“Commonwealth has taken away that the police operated at any time within the authority of awarded by law,” a court document was filed on the countries on Monday.

The document further says that Altone’s law officers who, uniforms, responded to the invitation of the local McDonald manager 911, saying that she saw someone in her location that “looks like a shooter of the New York executive director,” the protocol followed when they approached Mangione.

“Officers had a valid reasonable suspicion that they support the investigative custody to determine who the defendant-Mangione is and whether the suspects of the murder; [sic] He talks with officers without police coercion and willingly provides them with a forged identification, “prosecutors wrote.” In fact, at no point of the defendant-Mangione, he asks to leave, try to leave or try to separate from custody. “

Prosecutors further stated that once mangione “produced false and forged identification, the meeting was immediately succeeded in arresting a probable cause.”

Submitting the application comes after Mangione’s Pennsylvania Defenda Lawyer, Thomas Dickey, argued in the March Court document that the Mangione was improperly detained and arrested at McDonald’s, so that certain evidence collected during this arrest should not be filed as evidence against his client, including what he described as a vague search for a suspect’s backpack, the statements that the police gave during his arrest.

He allegedly escaped in New York by bus and made it to Altona, between Pittsburgh and Harrisburg, before stopping at McDonalds and ordering Hashbrown just before his arrest.

New York prosecutors say Mangione planned to travel to New York, find Thompson – a resident of Minnesota in the city for the annual shareholder conference Unitedhealthcare – and kill him. Mangione allegedly shot Thompson from the 3D print spirit and suppression.

Mangione is originally from Maryland and recently lived in California and Hawaii. He finished as Vaidictorian from Gilman school, a private All Boys High School in Baltimore, 2016.

Mangione graduated and received his master’s degree from IT from Ivy League University in Pennsylvania in 2020.
