In the midst of his discussion on tariff and trade policy, President Donald Trump has taken a while to meet with some of the best traders in the country, from Home Home Depot to improve home and Lowe to mass traders to target and Walmart, to discuss the influence of trade policy on their business.

While large enterprises, billionaires and Wall Street are regularly received by the audience with the presidents, Main Street is too often left out.

Trump’s administration has repeatedly said that they want to be the main street first. At the Washington Summit of the US Banker Association, Scott Catott Minister of Scott Bessent said, “The next four years, Trump’s agenda is focused on Main Street. The movement is the main street. The movement is the main streets for employment of workers. The movement of the investment in Main Street, and the turn is turn to return the American dream. ”

And, as this administration opened briefing for journalists to include new media, the president should have a regular audience with members of the Small Street Street community.

Independence, Missouri

President Trump has taken time to talk about questions with a great job. Now he has to make time to hear the concern of small businesses. File: In the afternoon sunlight shines on the historic core of independence in the city center. (East)

A small company is a large company For America, which is why it is often called the backbone of the American economy. According to small business administration statistics, there are almost 35 million SMEs, compared to less than 20,000 large companies. Small companies make up about half of the private economy and create most of the new jobs.

However, as small businesses spread in geographical areas, demographics, industries and sizes, they do not attract so much attention in Washington. There are fantastic individual advocates, as well as advocacy organizations such as NFIB (National Federation of Independent Business), Corporation Association S, NSBA (National Association for Small Companies), SBE Council (SMBE and Entrepreneurship) and many organizations specific to industry, among other things, which should be received as more advice on economic players.

Small companies took half a decade decay of government seats. First, the state and local covid-19 mandates closed and negatively influenced millions of small businesses, for which the poorly designed PPP program was not fully compensated.

There were long-term disorders on the back of the COID’s term, which supplied the chains and labor markets, which further damaged small businesses. Then the historical inflation under the Administration of Biden made even more pressure on small businesses and their customers.

While small companies were optimistic for Main street, first Trump administration, Expecting that deregulation and tax safety will help to increase their business growth, millions of small businesses will struggle instead with another battle battle.

Whether a small company has a part or their entire supply chain abroad, it has domestic suppliers with exhibition external supply chains or customers who reduce consumption and investment due to market and economic insecurity, they are financially injured.

And while large companies, such as Apple, were granted a temporary return to their tariff exposure, reducing tariffs in China for smartphones, computers and chips from 145% to 20%, millions of small businesses did not get any relief. Apple has tens of billions of dollars in cash and equivalents in its balance sheet; Small companies do not have such an impact on the balance sheets.

Although understanding the needs of companies like Apple and Walmart is important, it is equally important to understand the needs of small companies throughout the country.

Small companies do not have the ability to absorb enormous costs due to major changes in politics overnight.

In fact, almost all the small businesses I talk to want very little from the Government, except to stay to do their job without interfering with the Government. They want to exist on the same playground as everyone else, and do not have barriers, regulations and challenges imposed on the government on their way at every turn.

In order to understand these challenges, President Trump should invite more small businesses and his advocates to the White House. If Main Street will make progress, it should start with small businesses and this reality should assign a small business at the table.
