“Our home company, Paramount, is trying to complete the merger,” Pelley said. “Trump’s administration has to approve this. Paramount began to control our content in new ways. None of our stories were blocked, but Bill felt that he had lost independence that a sincere journalism needed.”
He closed, “no one here is happy about it, but in whether he resigned, Bill proved one thing. He was the right person he had led the ’60 minutes all the time.”
