Dolphins are one of the smartest animals on Earth and are appreciated by the thousands of their intelligence, emotions and social interactions with humans.

Now Google uses Artificial intelligence (AI) Try and understand how they communicate with each other – with the hope that people could use technology to talk to friendly mammals.

Google joined to researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology and The Wild Delphin Project (WDP), and Headquartered in Florida A non -profit organization that has been studying and capturing dolphins for 40 years to build a new AI model called Dolphingemma.

For decades, WDP has linked sound types with behavioral contexts. For example, whistle with the signature of the mother and calves used to reunite, while the empty pulsi “squowks” often notice during the dolphin struggle, the researchers said, according to a Google blog on the project.

Now, using the enormous data collected by the WDP, Google has built Dolphingemma, based on the Google’s own Ai light open model, known as Gemma.

Over time, Dolphingemma will try to organize dolphins into categories – almost like words, sentences or expression in human language.

Google has joined researchers at the Georgia Institute of Technology and The Wild Delphin Project (WDP), a non -profit organization with a headquarters in Florida, which has been studying and shooting dolphins for 40 years, to build a new AI model called Dolphingemma.

“By identifying repetitive sound patterns, clusters and reliable sequences, the model can help researchers discover hidden structures and potential meanings within the natural communication of dolphins – a task that has previously required a huge human effort,” in the post On Google It reads about the project.

“In the end, these patterns, expanded by synthetic sounds created by researchers to refer to the objects that dolphins like to play, can establish a common vocabulary with dolphins for interactive communication.”

Dolphingemma uses Google’s Pixel Technology Technology, specifically the technology of audio records used in pixel devices, for pure, high quality dolphin vocalization sounds.

Pixel phone technology can separate the clicks and whistles of dolphins from background noise such as waves, boat motors or underwater static. That pure sound is crucial for AI models like Dolphingemme, because messy, noisy data would be confused by AI, researchers said.

Google says she plans to publish Dolphingemm as an open model this summer, allowing researchers around the world to use and adapt it.

Although dressed on Atlantic spot dolphins, the model could also help study other species such as Bockenose or Spinner Dolphin with some precise adjustment, researchers said.

“Providing tools like Dolphingemme, we hope to give researchers around the world to make tools for mining our acoustic data sets, accelerating the search for patterns, and collectively deepening our understanding of these intelligent marine mammals,” the blog reports.
