AND a woman from Florida was arrested Sunday after she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend’s dog several times and later told authorities she “made a mistake,” according to law enforcement officials.
The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office said 23-year-old Megan Lynn Mileskiewicz was arrested and charged with animal cruelty and resisting arrest.
The sheriff’s office said that around 10:45 a.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a 911 call in which a witness reported a woman stabbing her boyfriend’s dog multiple times inside the home.
When deputies arrived at the Spring Hill home, Mileskiewicz was not inside, but witnesses said she fled through the back door of the residence.

After a short search, deputies found Mileskiewicz hiding behind a backyard tool shed, face down and surrounded by brush.
The deputies allegedly ordered to drag the suspect out of the bushes, although she refused and was finally removed from hiding and taken into custody.
The sheriff’s office noted that the dog, a 2-year-old pit bull, suffered two lacerations between 2 and 3 inches long, near its buttocks.

None of the injuries were life-threatening, the deputies noted, but the wounds were still bleeding.
One witness reportedly told deputies that Mileskiewicz, without warning, became angry with the dog and armed herself with a pocket knife before attempting to stab the dog.
