Federally accused Mayor Jackson, Mississippifollowed by his opponent in the city’s democratic primary runoff.
Unofficial votes show that State Senator John Horhn, who runs the court mayor of Chokwe Antar Lumumba 18,493 to 6.246, according to the City Clerk. Although the voices of the absence have not yet been counted, Horhn declared victory in the race.
Lumumba, Hinds Jody Owens II District State Attorney and City Councilor Jackson, Aaron Banks, are facing accusations of conspiracy for committing a federal program, honest fraud and money laundry, the Ministry of Justice announced last November. All three declared that they were not guilty.
The indictment states Three Democrats Accepted payments, including $ 50,000 for the mayor’s re -election campaign, of two people who thought they were real estate developers who wanted to build a hotel near the City Congress Center. It turns out that they worked for the FBI.

“The inhabitants, you know, said a narrative that should – this should give them every reason not to be here, right? And we try to make it clear that this is not what we are,” Lumumba said on Friday, according to Associate Press.
Lumumba and Horhn faced a democratic mayoral primary once before 2017. In that race, Lumumba beat Horhn, earning 55% of the vote.
The winner of this race will progress by June 3 General choices.
“People are ready for something different,” Horhn said recently. “They are ready for change; they are ready to lead; they are ready for better streets; they are ready for less crime; they are ready for more opportunities.”
Lumumba, the son of the late Republic of New Africa, Chokwe Lumumba, posted a video last year that denied that she had ever accepted bribes and called an indictment “political persecution” intended for “destruction” [his] . . . reputation.”

“Jackson residents, with great disappointment, came before you. My legal team informed me that the federal prosecutors, in fact, accused me of bribery and related accusations,” he said.
“No coincidence, and there was time before the upcoming mayoral race. My legal team will strongly defend me from these accusations. Again, while I’m disappointed, I’m not distracted, so I’m looking for your patience and your prayer during this process. Thanks.”
Three officials were in Buba’s room on a yacht in the Brower District in Florida, negotiating what they believed were the payment of developers when they were caught, according to local Mississippi Clarion-Ledger.
One secret agent allegedly asked the officials to advance the deadline for “SoQ”, or the qualifying statement needed for the planned development of the hotel, and Lumumba allegedly continued and sent a phone call.

The second agent then provided the mayor five checks worth $ 50,000. After returning to Mississippi, the funds were allegedly deposited at the expense of the mayor’s campaign, the paper said.
