Bill Haney: The People Want Devin Vs. Garcia rematch

Bill Haney is confident a rematch between Devin and Ryan Garcia will still happen despite dropping a lawsuit they have over his positive PED test for the banned substance Ostarine from their fight eight months ago on April 20.

People decide

According to Bill, people will decide if there is a Devin vs. Garcia rematch and they want to see it. So if they want to see it, the networks will. The lawsuit stands. They will not reject it.

Garcia (24-1, 20 KOs) seems interested in a rematch and often jokes that he wants to knock Henny down even more with a left hook. The only thing that could stand in the way of another fight is if Devin fights someone else.

Bill thinks that Devin has proven that he is a world champion and that he can fight anyone he wants to. However, he hasn’t done so since losing to Garcia, suggesting he is waiting for his one-year suspension to end in April 2025, hoping for a rematch.

Bill is coy about his desire for the second fight to happen immediately, but he’s easy to read. His speech makes it clear that a Garcia rematch is the ONLY fight he and Devin want.

“Devin is a champion. Ryan Garcia did not. “Oscar De La Hoya failed to make Ryan Garcia a champion,” Bill Haney said. Fight Hub TV when asked if their lawsuit against Ryan will affect their ability to get a rematch.

“Devin wants to fight who people want to see, but he wants it to be on a level playing field. We do it for the people. They’re the ones paying the bills, not the promoters,” Bill said of why they would want a rematch with Ryan.

“If the fans want to see the fight, then there’s a network that wants to put it on.” Gone are the days when Oscar De La Hoya said what he wanted. He said there is no need for a rematch, but he doesn’t listen to people. “That’s him creating false narratives as if people aren’t calling for it,” Bill said.

Garcia’s win overturned

It’s a mistake that Hannay sits outside the ring with Ryan without fighting anyone and that his dad, Bill, often talks about the positive test. If Bill believes that mentioning him is erasing the memory fans have of Devin’s loss, he’s wasting his time.

The New York State Athletic Commission expunged Haney’s loss to Garcia, changing it to a no-contest due to his positive test for Ostarine. But Bill can’t erase the image of Ryan beating his son from fans’ memories by bringing up positive tests 24/7. That won’t work. He can’t whitewash what happened by constantly digging in every interview and mentioning it on social media.

This makes Bill and Devin just look like big losers because fans don’t believe Ryan won because of Ostarina. They just think Hannay has a glass chin, can’t hit and was never that good.

“The biggest thing is drug testing,” Bill said when asked if the weight decision would be the biggest thing to decide for a rematch between Devin and Ryan. “He said he was crazy.” So if you were crazy enough to do it the first time, then you’ll be crazy enough to do it the second time. This is the one who enrolls in the (drug testing) program.

“Put something on the table where you would be the A-side and we would be the B-side, it would be an insult. They knew it was an insult,” Bill Haney said of Bob Arum offering Devin to fight Teofimo Lopez.
