The import of China’s US fluid has been completely closed for more than 10 weeks, according to shipping data, how the China-American trade war has spread in fuel cooperation.
Since the 693,3-Tune LNG tanker February of Texas, Christie’s 693-Tune LNG tanker, came to Fujian province in southern province of February, no further shipment between the two countries.
A second tanker was redirected to Bangladesh after China failed to reach 5 percent tariffs on February 7. The tariff has since increased by 5 percent, which has made gas solo for Chinese buyers for our future.
The US LNG on the refrigerator is a repeat of a block of importing imports for more than a year in the first term of President Donald Trump.
However, the stand-off has a possible far-reaching impact, strengthening China’s strength relations with Russia and raising a huge expansion of billions of LNG terminals on the United States and Mexico.
“Long-term consequences will have long-term consequences,” said Ann-Safi Carbau, a gas expert at the University of Columbia, Global Energy Policy. “I don’t think Chinese LNG importers will ever deal in a new US.”
China has imported its LNG relatively low shares from the United States since the Ukraine invasion, Chinese buyers prefer to re -sale gas in Europe for profit. Last year, only 6 percent of China’s LNG came from the United States, from the top of 11 percent in 2021.
However, Chinese companies, including petrochina and synpec, have signed a 5 long -term agreement to buy LNG from US terminals, some of which have gone to 2049, according to KPL’s data.
These national long -term deals were necessary to get huge LNG projects in the United States, although Carbau has said that developers have recently tried to reconsider the terms to consider increasing inflation and US tariffs.
KPL’s analyst Gillian Bokara says he has not seen any reason for the business between the two countries in the short term.
“When the last time it happened, there was a complete break until the Chinese authorities were waived, but it was a time when the demand for gas was increasing,” he said. “Now we look at low economic growth, and we think that the Chinese can tolerate the damage to these cargo for a long time.”
Russia’s Ambassador to Russia said earlier this week that China would probably increase the import of Russian LNG instead. Jang Hanhui said, “I know for sure that there are plenty of buyers here. Many buyers are asking the embassy to help the Russian suppliers contact the suppliers, I think there must be more (import),” Jang Hanuhu said.
Australia and Qatar have debuted as the third largest supplier of LNG; The two countries are also discussing a new gas pipeline, Siberia 2 Power 2.
“The tariff where they go to the level of effective sanctions, we will see a review of trade flow,” said Richard Bronze, Energy Cips, a power consultant. He added, “We expect Asia to decrease the demand of Asia by 3-5 million tonnes. It will reduce gas prices in Europe somewhat,” he added.
