Democrat Abdul El-Sayed enters 2026 US Senate race in Michigan

Former Public Health Officer in Michigan and Democratic Candidate for Governor has entered the race for an open place in the United States on Thursday in what could be one of the most watched races in 2026. The middle elections.

Abdul El-Sayed, 40, is the second Democrat who put his name in his candidacy to replace the Democratic Senator Gary Peters, who does not seek a re-choice.

El-Sayed, a prominent figure in a movement that was very critical as support of Israel in the 2024 election cycle, aims to single out from other democratic candidates in the race to replace Peters, Mallory McMorrow Senator.

McMorrow said she would vote against the leader of the Senate majority of Chuck Schumer, DN.Y., retaining her leading position if prevalent in the primary and general elections to represent the state of Battlegond in the upper chamber of the Congress.

However, El-Sayed refrained from Schumer’s criticism.

“Anyone who tells you that he will unilaterally oppose a potential candidate without knowing who is an alternative, or is unquestionable or unimited,” El-Sayed told Politico. “So I want to know who is available, who is actively looking for the lead. I’ll decide from there.”

“What we currently need is someone who is willing to quarrel directly on Trump and Musk, but then he also knows how to rebuild the version of our Federal Government, which is better served by working people after the massacre that Musk and Trump will leave behind, and I think I offer it,” he told Politico.

Other Democrats thinking about running to replace Peters include US Ambassador Haley Stevens and Michigan Attorney General Dan Nessel.

El-Sayed was active in “Undisturbed movement”, A group of Anti-Israeli, the traditionally democratic voters in Michigan, a critical swing situation, who threatened to deny the support of then President Joe Biden, and then President Kamal Harris, for the attitude of the administration on Gaza. He said he would be supported by one who is an eventual democratic election for the presidential ticket to be opposed to President Donald Trump, according to politics.

The Israeli-Hama war exposed the deep divisions within the Democratic Party of the Last Election Cycle, and there is concern that the conflict could recreate a messy democratic primary in Michigan if the US Public Relations Committee is intervened. A strong pro-Israeli lobby group financially supported Stevens in 2022, when the redistribution forced a competitive basic ride against a colleague of Democrats, Tail. Andy Levin.

“Everyone is united about the leadership reminiscent of the Democratic Party that we should be a party of peace and justice, that we should not be a party that sends bombs and money to foreign military police officers to reject bombs on other people’s children in their schools and their hospitals, when our children need more, our hospitals and schools need more, and we should say that we will instill in Home.

El-Sayed ran for governor of 2018 as a progressive Democrat and supported him Senator Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Rev. Alexandria Fathers-Cortez, Dn.y.

Entered second place in the democratic primary, losing to Gretchen Whitmer with more than 20 points and beating the USA-American Ambassador Shri Thanedar for more than 12 points. Whitmer continued to win in the general election and is in the middle of a second term. Cannot be restarted due to the limit of the term.

The resident of Ann Arbor, El-Sayed, was recently director of the Department of Health, Human and Veteran Services in Wayne County, Detroit Home. Previously, he was the director of the City Public Health after declaring bankruptcy in 2013.

“If you cut the corners and cut your message, and you triangulate to the least usual denominator, you can find something that is perfectly offensive to everyone, and the problem with this is that you don’t really say anything,” Politico said.

El-Sayed said he met a committee on a Democratic Senator Campaign on Tuesday. Politico said that his “understanding” was that the Senate would not be involved in the primarily democratic campaign. If this happens, it deviates from the way DSCC has previously acted to clean the field of potential primary candidates to facilitate the primary victory for the then Repa. Elissa Sloodkin. Now Sen. The Slootka, D-Mich., Easily won the primary over Hill Harper and then won in the general election.
