Want more female business owners? Introduce them to entrepreneurship early

According to the research of Maddalena Ronchi, a school of management professor, early exposure to other traders can produce an important path.

Ronchi’s research used a large population of Danish-wide wide registry and connections with almost a million people at the age of 786.

The short answer: Early influence is actually important – but only for girls. The manner of a merchandise of a peer who has changed the parents of women and careers, which makes them more likely to keep their education after compulsory school 15 or 16-and less refrain from empty jobs. The effect was not found in view of the same data with teenage boys.

Another interesting search: women early exposure to merchants have more successful businesses than men and women who don’t. Businesses are higher and use higher parts of women.

Although the reasons for influence can be debate, Ronchi says it is likely to be coming to play young men before, the more they are looking for it. And knowing about these jobs between the ages of 13 to 16, when Danish students think about what is next step in their education journey.

This research is important, Ronchi said, not only for those who care for gender justice and equal opportunity, but because traders make companies and jobs. Attracting the right talent, any gender, can help the economy. Although research uses Danish data, he believes the conclusions will also prompt US.

“In a way, this exposure is something that seems to be reduced not only the obstacles that women can face this profession,” Ronchi said.
