There is no simple way to put it: American farmers are in trouble.
Our farmers lost more than 30 billion dollars this year. A new farm bill that would have helped them has stalled in Congress thanks to Democratic pushback. Four years of rising input costs and Biden-led regulatory overreach they brought many family farms to extinction.
The good news is that America will soon have a farmer’s friend in the White House again. President-elect Trump has delivered victory after victory for our farm families during his first term and I know that is one of his main goals for his second. But as the old saying goes, personnel is politics.

That’s why we need Brooke RollinsPresident Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Agriculture, who will be confirmed as soon as possible.
TRUMP CHOSEN BROOKE ROLLINS FROM TEXAN AS SECRETARY OF AGRICULTURE
I worked with Brooke at the White House, where she and I were part of a group of women empowered by President Trump to fight for his America First vision. As director of the Domestic Policy Council and the Office of American Innovation, Brooke mastered policy across all issue areas and helped the president launch the largest economy in American history.
She has worked especially hard to eliminate cumbersome red tape like the Water of the United States policy, which President Obama wanted used to regulate every creek, stream, and puddle in America.
Farming for Brooke is not just intellectual. She grew up in a small farming community in Texas and comes from generations of hardworking American farmers. She studied agriculture at Texas A&M and spent the early part of her career fighting to protect the interests of farmers. She has been a part of 4-H and FFA and raises the helm with her four children.
US AGRICULTURE POSED TO BE NEXT CYBERSECURITY FRONTIER IN NEW YEAR, EXPERTS AND LEGISLATORS SAY
I recently joined Senator John Boozman, Arkansas’ senior senator and incoming chairman of the Senate Agriculture Committee, on a farm tour in the Arkansas Delta. At the end of a long day of meeting with farmers, we sat down at a round table in McGehee, Arkansas. I’ve known for some time that our farm families struggle, but this event made it crystal clear.
One by one, the farmers around the table told me how their neighbors and relatives were leaving farming and had to struggle to find work elsewhere. They said that everything, from fuel to seeds, is becoming more expensive, but that they do not follow the price their crops fetch on the market. They described it as a generational crisis.

I have always believed that farming is more than just a job. Especially in places like small town Arkansas, it’s a way of life. It’s our state’s culture, our history, and what binds communities like McGehee together. If our farmers disappear, something critical to the spirit of Arkansas – and America – will disappear with them.
Brooke understands that fact – and is willing to do something about it. I know the first item on her to-do list is to work with the new Republican majorities in the House and Senate to pass updated Farm Law – legislation that has not been thoroughly revised for ten years. I know she will work to remove the regulatory red tape that holds our farmers back and makes a difficult job impossible.
I know she is committed to improving broadband and connectivity in our small communities, helping rural Arkansas connect to the world. And I know he will fight to achieve President Trump’s vision of a dominant America – in food, energy and everything else.

My dad used to say that if a country can’t feed itself, power itself or fight for itself, then it can’t survive. It is not dramatic to say that we are very close to that point – and we need a dramatic change in leadership to right the ship.
Brooke Rollins is that leader. Confirm Brooke as Minister of Agriculture. Stand up for America’s farmers. Save ours agricultural industry – and the way of life of our nation.
