Authorities published identities six people who were tragically killed by UA Sending a plane in New York Saturday, including a highly recognized former student athlete.
Six victims, most of which were connected, died around 12:15 in a local time on Saturday, according to the Federal Air Force (FAA). Aircraft, a Mitsubishi Mu-2B, was on his way to Columbia County airport Hudson, New York, When he collapsed out in an open, muddy field in Copake, a dozen miles in the south.
Karenna Groff, a former Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), who was named NCAA Woman of the Year in 2022, was one of her parents, Dr. Michael Groff and Dr. Joy Sainini. Goff studied medicine at New York University at the time.
Her brother Jared Groff and his partner Alexia Couyutas Duarte were also killed in the flight. Boy of Karenne Groff, James Santoro, was in the flight and died.

Six boarded the aircraft at Westchester County in White Plains earlier that morning. Immediately before the collision, the pilot did air traffic control at Columbia County airport to say that he had missed the initial approach and asked for a new approach plan.
Air traffic controllers have prepared new coordinates and tried to send a low height a warning three times the pilot, which he did not answer.
Authorities are still exploring the cause of the collision, which could take up to 24 months.

The aircraft, which was a private plane owned by Michael Groff, was discovered “compressed, embedded and built into the field of” Blatno Polje, said NTSB official Todd Inman briefly on Sunday.
Inman also said that the authorities received the flight videos, which seemed to have shown that the aircraft was intact “and crashed at a high speed of descending into the ground.”

The NTSB also said that the plane had a recent upgrade of a cockpit with recent technology certified FAA and that the pilot flew in the flight rules on the instruments instead of the rules of visual flight.
James’s father, John Santoro, expressed sadness for the tragedy and described the Counts as the “wonderful family” of the Associated Press.

“The world has lost a lot of very good people who will do a lot of good for the world if they have the opportunity,” said the bereaved father. “We are all personally devastated.”
