A Bangladeshi arrest warrant has been issued for former UK minister Tulip Siddique that he has alleged that he has tortured political power for illegally acquiring land in a high town near Dhaka Kaka.
An official of the Anti -Corruption Commission told the Financial Times that a court has issued a warrant along with his mother Sheikh Rehana, his aunt and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and other family members for Siddique.
Siddique was summoned to appear for a Sunday hearing, after an previous notice issued on April 10. After failing to participate, the court issued an arrest warrant, the official said.
The case, the ACC centers of Bangladesh, claimed that the family illegally got about half an acre plot in Purbachal, a residential residential area designed on the outskirts of the capital.
The ACC has claimed that Siddique used his political influence to protect the official plot for himself and his family, benefited from the illegal allocation of state -owned land.
The court related to a separate case involved in irregularities in the allocation of the land has previously issued a warrant on April 7 against five persons.
The lawyers representing Siddique said in a statement: “The ACC did not respond to MS Siddique or did not complain directly or through his lawyers.”
They added, “Miss Siddique knows nothing about the hearing related to her and it is said that she has no knowledge that an arrest warrant has been issued.”
They said that “there is no basis for any complaint against him, and in illegal ways he is not true to any allegations that he got the land in Dhaka” and added “the allegations are clearly inspired to us”.
Siddique resigned from the post of his cabinet in January, under political pressure after the allegations, first reported that he first benefited from the property associated with the Awami League under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina.
The company also complained that Siddique used a fake notary to transfer a separate flat to his sister.
Sheikh Hasina’s five -year term ended last August in a massive protest against her government.
Siddique’s lawyers returned against the allegations last month, arguing that the former minister was victim of “false, worrying and uncontrollable allegations” and the media was used as a “vehicle to publish allegations” and which was not given to their client.
They said that after his election as an MP in the “legally and legally made” transfer registered with the Bangladeshi authorities, he gave his sister property after his election.
