The US Army will take control of the federal lands strip that encompasses three countries along the southern border in an effort to stop illegal immigration, Memorandum on Friday President Donald Trump said.
Memorandum, “a military mission for Searning the southern border From the United States and rejecting invasions, “directs the secretaries of defense, the interior, agriculture and homeland security” to ensure the use and jurisdiction of the Ministry of Defense in relation to such federal countries, including the reservation of Roosevelt and excluding the federal Indian reserves, which are reasonably necessary to enable military activities. “
He wrote that he could include “the border construction and setting up equipment for detection and monitoring.”

“Our southern border is attacked with various threats,” Trump wrote in the memorandum. “The complexity of the current situation requires that our army has a more direct role in securing our southern border than in the recent past.”
Federal land, consisting of a narrow 60 -foot strip at the Roosevelt border, would become a “military installation” labeled “National Defense Areas” where “military activities” would occur.

The reservation of Roosevelt includes California, New Mexico and Arizona, and Theodore Roosevelt was declared federal land in 1907 to keep the border.
The memorandum added that the defense secretary could “determine those military activities that are reasonably needed and suitable for the realization of the mission” guarding the border.
