Intellectually disabled teen shot by Idaho police dies after being removed from life support

An autistic, non -verbal teenager he has repeatedly shot Idaho police On the other side of the railing of the chain relationship while holding the knife, he died on Saturday after being removed from life’s support, his family said.

Police in the southwestern city of Idaho Pocatello responded to the call 911, reporting that the seemingly drunk man with a knife persecuted someone in the yard. It turned out to be Perez, who was not drunk but walked with a gradual walk because of his disability, Vazquez said. His family members were trying to pull a large kitchen knife from him.

The video recorded by the neighbor showed that Perez was lying in the yard after fell when four officers arrived and rushed to the fence on the edge of the yard. They immediately ordered Perez to lower the knife, but instead he stopped and began to stumble toward them.

The police opened the fire within about 12 seconds from the exit of their patrol cars and did not obviously do their best to deisel the situation.

Shot is outraged Perez’s family and residents of Pocatella, and the vigil is planned for Saturday morning outside Hospital where he was treated.

“Everyone was trying to tell the police, no, no,” Vazquez said. “Those four officers didn’t care. They didn’t ask what was going on, what the situation was.”

“How will he skip the fence when he can barely walk?” she said.

The officers, whose names were not published, were put on administrative leave.

The decisions on whether they should be charged with a team of critical incidents of Eastern Idah against them, said Bannock District Prosecutor Ian Johnson via E -Stage.

“When that investigation is completed, the report will be filed for an examination,” he said. “Below, an effort to ensure independent and objective consideration, the report will be reviewed by an agency outside the Bannock district.”

Pocatella Mayor Brian Blad said in a statement on Friday after the family announced that Perez no no brain activityThe thoughts and prayers of these officials were with them.

“We recognize the pain and sadness that this incident has caused in our community,” Blad said.

On Thursday, Blad said that the city was “dealing with this issue of seriousness and thoroughness that he deserves to be an appropriate respect for the weight of the situation.”

“There are criminal, external and internal investigations into the course of a crackle involved in the officer, which is why we cannot answer questions from concern in mixing or endangering the investigation,” he said.
