Gal Gadot underwent emergency surgery for a brain blood clot while eight months pregnant


Gal Gadot she was diagnosed with a “massive blood clot” on her brain while she was eight months pregnant with her daughter.

The “Wonder Woman” star. shared an emotional post on social media describing the “deep challenges and deep reflections” of her year with a hospital photo shortly after the birth of her baby girl.

Gadot, 39, kept her fourth pregnancy with husband Yaron Varsan a secret and announced the birth of their daughter in a post posted online in March.

“In February, eight months into my pregnancy, I was diagnosed with a large blood clot in my brain,” Gadot wrote. “For weeks I suffered excruciating headaches that kept me bedridden, until I finally underwent an MRI which revealed the terrifying truth.

“In one moment, my family and I were confronted with how fragile life can be. It was a powerful reminder of how quickly everything can change, and in the midst of a difficult year, all I wanted to do was hang on and live.”

She continued: “We rushed to the hospital and within hours I underwent emergency surgery. My daughter Ori was born in that moment of uncertainty and fear. Her name, which means ‘my light’, was not chosen by chance. Before the operation, I told Jaron that when our daughter arrives, she will be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel.”

Gadot thanked her team of doctors at Cedars Sinai at Los Angeles for “weeks of dedicated care”.

“I persevered and began the journey of recovery. Today, I am completely healed and filled with gratitude for the life that has been given back to me,” she wrote.

Gadot and Varsano married in 2008 and also have daughters Alma, Maya and Daniella.

This is not the first time that the actress managed to hide her pregnancy. In 2017, Gadot told Marie Claire that she kept her second pregnancy a secret while filming “Wonder Woman” because she didn’t want to be treated differently on set.

“I lost it,” she told the magazine. “I started coming to the set wearing sunglasses. I had a pitcher of water with huge chunks of ginger in it. One of the producers kept asking, ‘Why are you drinking that potato water?’ They thought I went to Hollywood.”

In 2022, Gadot, who served in the Israel Defense Forces when she was younger, she told InStyle, “Making a movie while you’re pregnant or having a baby” is the “worst—” she’s ever done.

“I started young,” she added. “I was 25 when I was pregnant with Alma. I always wanted to be a young mother. Yes, three kids. No kidding, woman. God bless them, but it’s so much work.”

Gadot explained: “I love giving birth. I’d do it once a week if I could. It’s so magical. And I always get an epidural, to be fair, so it’s not as painful. Just the moment you feel like you’re creating life, it’s amazing.”
