The federal judge supported Trump administration A policy that allows us to immigration and customs implementation (ICE) to perform executive operations in churches and other places of worship despite lawsuits against it from groups based on faith.
The American District Judge Dabney Friedrich, whom Trump appointed during his first term, rejected the request of more than two dozen Christian and Jewish organizations to block politics. Groups said they were breaking about religious freedom And it causes a fall, especially among immigrants concerned about ice retention.
The court found little evidence that Ice directs the churches or that the change of politics is just guilty of fewer people who attend services. Friedrich noted that only a few implementation actions were actually in or near religious places.

“These evidence suggests that the congregations remain at home to avoid encountering ice in their own districts, not because the churches or synagogues are the location of the high risk,” Friedrich wrote in her opinion.
The policy at the center of the lawsuit entered into force on January 20, Trump’s first day on duty.
On that day, the Ministry of Homeland Security was abolished by a guidance from the time of Obama, which discouraged Ice agents from arrest in “sensitive locations”, including schools, hospitals and places for worship. According to the new rule, ICE officials no longer need special approval to act in these locations as long as they apply “common sense” and “discretion”.
Religious leaders said the change went against more than three decades of precedent, which Purish to protect immigrants and the other vulnerable population of targets on holy or essential spaces in the community.

The judge, however, said that the return of old politics may not change the numbers of attendance, because the wider action of implementing immigration could continue to hold people away.
Other legal challenges to carry out immigration in sensitive places also break through the courts.
The federal judge in Maryland has temporarily blocked operations in religious places for some groups, including quakers. But the colorado judge ruled in favor of the administration in a similar case that included implementation in schools.
