Augusta National Golf Club has several rules for its golfers and protectors, both listed and unwritten.
Male coach of Golf University of Arizona Matt Thurmond has learned about one of these rules in a difficult way this week before 2025 Masters tournament.

“My bad, was the mistake I made,” Thurmond said later, Via Golf Week. “I want to follow the rules here when I am in Augusta and I do everything right. Happy to be here and appreciate everything here. I was just wrong.”
Thurmond is in Georgia this weekend to support Asnior Josele Ballester, who deserved an exemption to compete in Masters after winning the US amateur in August.
