Dean Wells, who played for almost a decade in Nfl After a prominent career at the University of Kentucky, he died Thursday after a two -year battle with cancer. He was 54 years old.
Wells has spent the first six years of his NFL career with Seattle Seahawks After being elected in the fourth round of the 1993 draft. He signed with Carolin Panthers in 1999, where he played three more seasons before officially retiring in 2001.

Wells opened for the first time about his cancer diagnosis in an interview with on3.com In April 2024, he said that in the previous year he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (All).
“It comes to mental toughness. You have to have a positive attitude that you can beat it. I did everything I can do with it. It’s like Kemoter is doing or not. You just don’t have much control over it. You wish you had more control,” he said at the time.

According to the Mayo Clinic, Acute lymphoblastic leukemia is a blood and bone marrow cancer in which “the disease progresses quickly and creates immature blood cells rather than ripe.”
Wells ended his career with 529 fights, 2.5 bags, six forced fumars, four recovery and three intercepts. A single career followed in Kentucky Where wells still holds records for most bags in the game (5) and one -season bag (10).
“Sauto’s condolences to the family and friends of Dean Wells, who passed away,” said the Social Media Statement.

Wells survives his wife Lisa and their two sons.
