Former president Barack Obama Said the crowd Thursday night that a victim could be needed to resist President Donald Trump’s policy.
Obama spoke on Thursday at the Hamilton college in Clinton, New York and accused Trump administration trying to destroy the international order after World War II, according to Washington Post.
During his speech, Obama called Trump’s behavior “the opposite basic compact we have as Americans” and invited students to do more to resist Trump’s policies.
“During most of our lives, it was easy to say that you are progressive or say that you are for social justice or say that you are for freedom of speech, and you do not have to pay the price for it … And now we are in one of those moments when … it’s not enough to just say that you are something for something. In fact, you may have to sacrifice something,” Obama said.

Obama also said that law companies and universities should take on a more active role in the resistance of Trump, claiming that there would be a massive return if he tried to sanction law firm.
“It is unthinkable that the same parties that have been silent now tolerate the behavior of me or the whole crowd of my predecessors,” Obama said.

Obama said that “he deals with the federal government that threatens universities if they do not give up students who exercise their right to freedom of speech.”
“You have all grown by the international order created by America after World War II … This is an important moment, because in the last two months the US government has been trying to destroy that order,” Obama said. “Democracy is quite recent in its harvest. The international order in which you work in instead of fighting is new. It’s fragile.”
