Mexico to dump sewage into border river

Mexico is scheduled to insert about 400 million liters of sewage into the Tijuana River, which is mostly likely to go to the United States, decades an old problem that has been environmental consequences for beaches and communities, the officials said.

Crews are scheduled for maintenance on the sewer system in Tijuana, which sits across the border From San Diego, who is still a landfill of Mexico pollution, San Diego’s supervisor Jim Desmond told Fox News Digital.

“Each time the maintenance of their side of the border is being held, instead of redirecting it (sewage) into the purification plant, it only enters the river, Jarke and eventually ends up in the USA Ocean,” he said.

“They put it (sewage) in a large drainage dumplings called Tijuana River It flows downhill, and unfortunately it is downhill the United States, “he added.

Instead of restarting the sewage, Mexico decided to make a problem in the US, Desmond said. The toxic waste and sewage runoff from the Tijuana River lasted for decades, as most of the time was breaking down the USA, resulting in the closure of the beach.

On Tuesday, Lee Zeldin, who runs the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), said that he plans to visit the San Diego border to address the problems relating to the “disgusting Mexican sewer” that enters the United States

Mexican officials have no incentive to solve the problem, Desmond said, because the Government is not responsible there.

“I think it’s really time for federal actions,” he said. “There must be a kind of consequence for these actions. Unfortunately, their lack of appropriate sewer system is our problem. This is not their problem.”

In order to convince Mexican officials to solve the problem, now the number of people who come to the border and visas could limit, as well as other forms of influence if the beaches must be closed, Desmond said.

The Tijuana River flows just behind the shopping center on the American side of the border, which is health risks for locals, he said. In addition to closing the beach, navy seals and train recruits nearby Toxic runoff And the children and some older residents on the American side of the border have become ill for the stench of runoff, Desmond said.
