Mark Brasfield, owner of Safe House Nashville, said he had sold thousands of storm shelters in 33 years of sales. He said until recently he had never seen intense demand in the southeast. Brasfield estimated that his phone rings at least 20 times a day with people who wanted to buy a storm shelter.
“It’s like insurance. You don’t think you’ll never have to use it, but if you need it, you understand,” Brasfield said.
Brasfield said his shelters were in accordance with the standards established by the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

“We looked at the cards and said, ‘All right, so where could we move? Where would we be completely sure? “And I just don’t think it exists somewhere,” Behrs said.
In December, Berhs finally decided to buy one of Brasfield’s family shelters for Storm. He said he was installed in January, just in time for what he described as the already active season of Tornado in his area.
“With the increase in the appearance of Tornado and seemingly movement, you know, east of Alley Tornado, we decided it would be a good investment for peace,” Berhs said.
