Elon Musk says US needs many hypersonic missiles, long-range drones: ‘Anything manned will die very fast’

A business titan Elon Musk he argued that the US needs a significant stockpile of hypertonic missiles and long-range air and sea-based drones.

“America needs a large amount of long-range drones (air, surface water and submarine) and hypersonic missiles. Anything manned will die very quickly in a drone war,” Musk said Thursday in a post on X.

The comments added to comments he made in a tweet last month: “Future wars revolve around drones and hypersonic missiles. Human-manned fighter jets will be destroyed very quickly,” he opined.

Musk took particular aim at the F-35 fighter jet, calling it a “s— design.”

“The F-35’s design was broken at the requirements level, because it was asked to be too many things for too many people. That made it an expensive and complex jack of all trades, master of none. Success was never a series of possible outcomes. And fighter jets manned ones are obsolete anyway, the pilots will just die,” he announced in November.

In another post last month, he exclaimed: “Some US weapons systems are good, if overpriced, but please, in the name of all that is holy, let’s stop the worst military value for money in history, the F-35 program!”

President-elect Donald Trump he tapped Musk, along with former presidential candidate Viveka Ramaswamy, to head the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), an unofficial effort to expose government waste and advocate for spending cuts.

Musk sounded the alarm over the nation’s wasteful spending.

“Frightening [to be honest]”, he wrote last month regarding the massiveness of America national debt.

The national debt exceeds $36.1 trillion, according to the data fiscaldata.treasury.gov.

“We’re either going to fix it or de facto bankrupt,” Musk warned in a post on Thursday.
