Defense leaders weigh in on needs of Trump’s ‘Golden Dome’ project

Forty years after President Ronald Reagan first imagined the idea, the leaders of the defense industry say that technology is finally advanced enough to build an invisible protective dome of works, interceptors of rockets and laser weapons over the United States.

Zoiss, whose company, L3harris is Technologies, has already built a satellite for a rocket defense agency that could be used for space radar systems for the Golden Dome, said they are the biggest challenge of rockets that are no longer followed by predictable paths.

“If you get back to a high school physics course, if you understand the angle and a bullet path, you understand exactly where it will land because it follows the parabola,” he said.

“ICBMS has been following the Parabola path for decades. But a new class of high -maneuvered crop weapons and hypersonic weapons are not now,” he explained. “Their end point is uncertain. And our defense systems in the US must now change to be more powerful to monitor those weapons throughout their path.”

A radar based on the universe will be a critical element of threats to the homeland in the future, Zoiss said.

“Our challenge is a truly long -term weapon. You know, weapons progressing at long distances that are maneuvered around our current radar systems based on land and sea. Therefore, if the weapon maneuver around these systems, that means that our current architecture cannot provide fire control.

The golden dome could be referred to the missions of rocket defense already in the works, such as the integrated air defense system of the National Region, which is designed to protect Washington, DC, from incoming threats and employment of the system such as the Norwegian National Advanced Rocket System from the surface to air (Naams).

And that could look at other systems that are already in radio on a smaller range.
