After arousing the biggest controversy last summer at the Olympic Games filled with controversy in Paris, the Algerian boxer Imane khelif Plans to repeat it all in 2028.
Gold medal said ITV In an exclusive interview that athlete plans to compete at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, which will be the first summer games based in the US since 1996. Games 2028 will also appear in the last year of President Donald Trump’s term, and so far strict gender policy in sports have been partially defined.
During running in women’s boxing, Khelif organized an international anger in Paris, despite being previously disqualified from the World Cup in the 2023 International Boxing Association for gender edibility issues. “Based on DNA tests, we have identified numerous athletes who have tried to deceive their colleagues to pose as women. According to test results, it has been proven to have XY chromosomes. Such athletes were excluded from the competition,” said Kemlev.
Khelif does not identify as transgender.
The Algerian Olympic Committee said at the time that Khelif was disqualified for “medical reasons”. Algerian media reported that Khelif is disqualified for high testosterone levels, Reuters states. Khelif claimed that disqualification was part of the “conspiracy” to prevent Algeria from winning gold.
However, Khelifu was allowed to compete in Paris and had complete support from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and President Thomas Bach. As a result, the boxer encouraged the great reaction of those who believed that Khelif should not compete in the female category based on their past gender problems.
These critics were Trump, billionaire Elon Musk and author of JK Rowling. Khelif filed a lawsuit in France, stating “acts of outraged cyber harassment” for the public response to her participation.
“When I saw that even the heads of the state, the famous personality and former athletes spoke of me without confirming the facts, shocked me,” said Khelif ITV.

“They spoke only for conversations without any reliable or documented information. I also noticed on social networks that people were discussing this issue without any reliable sources. This is what most influenced me at the beginning. Why did I, Iman Khelif, the goal of such a campaign?”
Khelif also said ITV that the return influenced the health of the mother of athletes.
“It influenced me mentally, as well as my family. Even my mother was deeply affected. Almost every day she went to the hospital. My relatives also influenced, and the whole Algerian people felt the weight of the situation. It exceeded only a sports problem or a game; it escalated into the main media campaign that could have a serious negative effect on me.
“I was deeply affected mentally and I felt discouraged, but I was aware of what was happening. Even during the Paris Olympics, I had a team of specialist doctors who supported me. Without their support, I may have fallen into the spiral of depression.”
But this does not prevent Khelif to compete again to compete again in 2028, even if there are potential stricter gender acceptability policies.
Trump has already signed an executive command that banned the transcenders from women and girls throughout the country, and said that the Minister of the Homeland Security Department Kristi Noem would be ordered not to hold transcends from the country for the 2028 Olympics.

However, Khelif claims that these policies do not refer to athlete.
“I’ll give you a direct answer: the US president has made a decision regarding transgender policies in America. I am not a transgender person. It doesn’t concern me, and that doesn’t intimidate me. That’s my answer,” Khelif said.
“For me, I see myself as a girl, like any other girl. I was born a girl, grew up as a girl and lived all my life as one.”
Since Bach was supposed to leave the duty this year, the next MOO President can also bring a different position of the Provisional Committee of the Committee. One potential heir is a former Olympic gold medal Sebastian Coe.
Coe has published his manifesto for his vision of President Moo -ai emphasizes the importance Protection of female athletes.
Previously, in November, an interview with the BBC said that the situation in which Khelif participated was made to feel “embarrassing”.
