The driver whose yellow cab hit six pedestrians when he jumped the curb in New York City shopping district on Christmas Day had a medical emergency at the time, police said.
The New York Police Department (NYPD) confirmed to Fox News Digital that a 58-year-old taxi driver threw the taxi over the curb, plowing the vehicle into a group of pedestrians in Herald Square at 6th Avenue and West 34th Street shortly after 4 p.m. pm ET on Christmas Day.
The NYPD did not want to elaborate on the species emergency medical assistancebut said the driver was taken to hospital after the incident and was in a stable condition.

Three others were also hospitalized, police said. Authorities said a 9-year-old boy was taken to a hospital with lacerations to his leg; A 41-year-old woman was taken to the hospital with a head injury; and the 49-year-old woman was transported to the hospital with a leg injury.
