Karissa Rund, 40, who was known for “her resistance, courage, dedication and stable service to God”, succumbed to the colorectal cancer on March 3.
“Karissa was the survivor of Columbine shooting, a war widow, struggling with cancer of the stage 4 10 years, and the greatest encouraged by most of us ever knew. Her mission of serving people, declaring hope in God despite pain and suffering, and was light despite the darkness – this legacy changed her corner of the world, set in this world.
“Doug, day by day and day, selflessly and unwavering served Karissa in his illness,” the statement added. “He carefully and carefully cared for all her need, noticing the little details, knowing that she wanted/loves things.”

Karissa Rund from Westminster said on her website that she was 11 years old when her mother died of breast cancer and that she survived the shooting at Columbine High School at the age of 14.
“When I was 20, I became a war widow when my husband and high school dear were killed in an action in Iraq,” she added.

Rund said her colon cancer was diagnosed in stage IV at the age of 31.
“I endured nine surgery, an unspeakable amount of suffering and pain, as well as two years of chemotherapy … And that part of my trip was not done,” she wrote on her website.

“Karissa was a stable servant to God,” the obituary added. “She was a friendship force in this world, a fan of adventure and illumination in the victories of all those around her.”
