US Federation of Teachers President Said to Randi Wentarten She was “crazy” because of the cuts of staff at the Education Department, describing it as “Evisceration for a thousand cuts.”
“So what he does is that he straightened the playground, so that all children can have the opportunity and that they are cut, and when halfway through people, it is like an evisceration for a thousand cuts,” Wentartenten said, listing the Department of Education.
The Education Department posted on Tuesday to reduce Its workforce from about 4,133 to about 2,183 employees. The remaining workers affected by the decrease will be placed on administrative leave of March 21.
“I’m so angry, angry about this, because it hurts people who can’t vote, children don’t vote! Let’s not take away their opportunity,” she continued.

“What they did yesterday was cowardly. You fight 65% of Americans who believe we have to have a education department,” she said earlier in the discussion. “Fact, education is done at a local level. The State Government, State Departments for Education, Local School Committees. It does education. And we believe that and we want it. But that is the Federal Department of Education. It is an agent for the opportunity. It is an even.”
She said the department helps to provide children with reading experts for certain disability, obtaining students of professional therapists, grants and more.
“I think every child should have a sport. I think every child should be experientially learning, they can get their equipment for that, I could continue to continue,” she continued.
