Christmas family dispute leads to 3 shot, 1 stabbed at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport: police

Phoenix police say they have arrested two people after three people were shot and one stabbed following an “escalating domestic dispute.” Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on Christmas.

The police officers received a report about the incident that happened in front of the restaurant in terminal 4, around 9:45 p.m., said at the scene Phoenix Police Sgt.

“Preliminary information indicates that a group of known persons engaged in a physical altercation which escalated to one subject taking a gun from them,” according to a police media alert.

Following the incident, three people suffered gunshot wounds, with one female adult suffering “life-threatening” injuries and two male adults in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries.

The two people involved were located and detained in the garage, police said, identifying them only as “an adult male and a juvenile female.” Police said the man had a stab wound and was taken to hospital, where he was said to be in stable condition.

“There are no active threats at the airport and detectives are on scene completing an initial investigation to determine what led to this incident,” Phoenix Police posted on X at 11:58 PM MST. “This ongoing investigation is not affecting flights.”

The cover for the airport was lifted around 10:30 p.m., local FOX 10 reports. Terminal operations and the Phoenix Sky Train were briefly halted as a precaution, according to an airport statement obtained by the TV station.

Thursday morning, a FOX 10 reporter said entrances to Terminal 4 gates B and C were still blocked.

A sergeant at the scene Wednesday night said that in a separate incident, another man was falsely told there was an active shooter at the airport and that he had arrived armed. He got into an argument with a police officer and was detained before being booked into jail. No one was injured in the second incident.

Weapons were found in both incidents, police said.

Police have not released the identity. Fox News Digital has reached out to police for an update on the investigation.

The two main airlines that fly out of Sky Harbor Terminal 4 are American and Southwest, according to the airport’s website.
