Social media groups, search engines and messaging applications will be asked next week to bring strict measures to remove illegal components under the new media watchdog rules and reduce the risk of this national content.

Suzan Catter, director of the offcom, says: “Platforms now need to work fast to adhere to their legal responsibilities and our codes are designed to help them do this. Ben Packer said: “We are going to find out who has done this properly and has done a thorough work of risk evaluation. I suspect that there are some companies who have not done too much.”
Packer has added that the threat of intervention offcoming may be higher than financial stress, adding that regulatory agencies “may order additional measures” to add content or to the user’s report or to detect content.
“Our experience in other sectors is that this kind of interference in the company’s activities that continues to become more dominant,” he said.
