Mike Johnson’s chief of staff Hayden Haynes arrested for alleged DUI

Hayden Haynes was arrested just before midnight on Tuesday night because he allegedly came out for the wheel of a vehicle while he was drunk. The arrest took place about an hour after the president Donald TrumpA joint address of the congress is completed.

US Capitol Police (USCP), which did not identify the suspect, confirmed the arrest of Fox News.

“The driver returned to a parking vehicle last night around 11:40 pm,” said USCP spokesman. “We answered and arrested them for DUI.”

Haynes has worked at the Johnson office since 2017 and became head of the staff in October 2023, according to Legistom Records. He was Johnson’s campaign manager in 2016.

A native of Louisiane, Haynes graduated from Louisana Tech University with a bachelor’s degree in 2011 and later graduated from Gonzaga University of 2014.

In a statement received by Fox News Digital, Johnson’s office said that the speaker still has a “full faith and confidence” in Haynes’s “ability to run the speaker’s office.”

“The speaker is aware of the meeting that happened last night, involving his staff chief and the Capitol Police,” the statement said. “The speaker knew and worked closely with Hayden for almost a decade and believed him to serve as his staff chief for his entire term in the congress.”

“Because of this and Hayden’s esteemed reputation among members and staff, the speaker has full faith and trust in Hayden’s ability to lead the speaker’s office.”

Before his arrest, Johnson appeared on “Hannity” to praise Trump’s speech and say that Democrats “brought shame on themselves and their party” a disturbing event.

“I’m sure he was admitted at home as well as Republicans and audiences in the gallery,” Johnson said. “It was really shameful that the Democrats did. I mean, it was really a pretty spectacle. They embarrassed themselves and their party.”

“But the US people follow what the president supplies and appreciates it.”
