Members of the US service who are transgender or otherwise show gender dysphoria are prohibited from the military service unless they receive an exemption, according to the inner memorandum of the Pentagon.
Memo, discovered in court On Wednesday night, they describe the new policy of Trump’s administration policy regarding transgender individuals. Policy notes that such a service members “may be considered as a case for renunciation to a case, provided there is a convincing government interest.”
“The members of the service who have instantaneous diagnosis or history or show symptoms in accordance with gender dysforia are disqualified from the military service,” the letter reports.
“The members of the service who have the history of intersex hormone therapy or the history of gender movement or surgery to reconstruction of genitals as the treatment of gender dysphoria or in search of sexual transition, are disqualified from the military service,” the letter continues.
