Assistant to a Christian doctor who says it was incorrectly abolished because of Her religious complaints She finally had a day in court, more than three years after she lost her job.
Valerie Kloosterman worked for 17 years as an assistant doctor for Metro Health Caledonia, a village outpatient clinic managed by Michigan Health-West (UMHW). Was abolished in August 2021. After allegedly looking for religious accommodation to be forced to use preferred patients’ pronouns or refer to patients for transgender surgery and medicines.
The first Liberty and Clement & Murphy law firm, PLLC, filed a lawsuit against UMHW, accusing the health care system of violating the rights of Kluosterman’s first and fourteenth amendment for free realization of religion, freedom of speech and equal protection; And a violation of the title VII Act on Civil Rights of 1964, when it was broken off from work.
Michigan lawyers James Wierang and David J. Williams also filed a lawsuit on behalf of Kloosterman.
After years of legal delay in the Kloosterman case, her lawyers were able to bring oral arguments before the US appellant for the sixth round of February 6th.

When she was looking for religious exemption through HR for the hypothetical situation, several meetings followed. At the last meeting before breaking, Kloosterman claims to have prevailed by Umhw Diversity, equality and inclusion (dei) Program coordinator over her religious beliefs.
“The meeting became hostile. This individual called me a liar because I said that I saw patients of the LGBT community and no problem, without worrying with them. He said I was ‘evil’ because I would not think about these patients I wouldn’t think About these patients that change gender, “she said.

That same official Dei also allegedly mocked his faith and told her that they would cause transgender patients to commit suicide without confirming their pronouns, the lawsuit said.
Kloosterman said her leadership told her that the conversation would continue at another moment. But a month later, she was suddenly invited to the office and fired on the spot, the lawsuit reads.
“She didn’t give me the opportunity to close my chart. She didn’t give me the opportunity to tell my patients. I was not allowed to go back to the office to get my personal belongings,” she told Fox News Digital.
Kloosterman said she had left the office astonished that her employer would release her because of her religious opposition to a hypothetical situation.
She was also broken that her patients, with whom she would build long -term relationships, would leave in the dark why she was no longer their provider.

The lawsuit states that Kloosterman was an “exemplary” employee who was never subject to discipline to the point of her crackling. She had a “stellar” reputation with her patients and “gladly served” patients of all different beliefs and backgrounds, including those identified as lesbians, gay or experience gender dysphoria, according to the words court documents.
Kloosterman charged the discrimination of the Commission for Equal Employment Opportunities, and First Liberty sued after the health care system allegedly refused their request to return Kloosterman.

They seek financial damage, fair relief, and Kloosterman returns to Umhw with accommodation for questions concerning transgender pronouns and recommendations for surgery.
UMHW did not answer the commentary request.

The health system has its values on its website and says that it is nationally recognized by its commitment to LGBTQ patients.
