Man charged with hammer attack on Louisiana college student, ICE files detainer on him

A man accused of attacking a college student in Louisiani with a hammer is the reason why President Donald Trump transferred some illegal immigrants to the Gnantanamo Bay, Cuba said on Monday.

Juan Monroy, 32, was charged with attempted second -degree murder after allegedly attacked by a Nicholls University student near the Catholic Church of St. Thomas aquinas in Thibodaux, 60 miles west of New Orleans.

Monrogy was quickly caught because of university police and church staff, the school said. At the time of the incident, he worked at a place not a university near the campus, the officials said.

An unidentified student was treated at the medical institution and released.

“At this point, we are for the benefit of our student in this incident. We would like to thank the fast action by the Nicholl State University of Police and all the local agencies that helped with this investigation,” said President Nicholls Jay Jay Cluna.
