The former Teddy Atlas coach says that he noticed some tactics that David Benavidez escaped with use against David Morrec who was not allowed to make other judges do their fight last Saturday night.
Atlas noticed these two questionable Benavid tactics:
- Hitting behind ear
- Withdrawal of Morrell’s guards with left hand and hitting.
Fighters can shove watch and hitting, but they should not pull it and hit him. Benavidez did that last. He held one of Morrell’s hands down while marked him with the others. The judge should notice that tactic and warn or punished benavidez.
The blows behind the head
Hitting behind her head is considered illegal and should be warned and punish their judge. Atlas calls it “hitting behind the ear”, but it looked like breaking to the back of the head, which Benavidez used against Morrel.
The question of rabbits should result in warning, but judges often overlook or not notice. They more focus on stopping low shocks, which is interesting, since hitting behind the head is far more dangerous.
There were cases in Benavidez-Morrell fighting, which looked like a benavide rabbit textbook, but nothing was said. That was weird. Would the outcome be different if the judge stopped benavide to use these tactics? Probably not, but we will never know.

I don’t know if it’s even allowed to say that he can’t,” the former Teddy’s coach said Atlas on his YouTube Channel, discussing an illegal move that David Benavidez used during his fight with David Morrel to the mainland when the Cuban Fighter had his guard.
“I’m not sure that every judge will enable you to reach out and pulled it a few times, and then hit him with the right hand. The judge did not stop being Benavidez and more power.
“Benavidez is intended for the ear. He threw the loop for his right hand behind his ear,” Atlas about the shocks at the last part of Morrelli’s Benavide boss landed and frayed without warming or punished. “There are several ways to hit the guy with your right hand.
