Keir Starmer will ‘fight’ to restore closer EU ties, says UK’s Brussels minister

Sir Care Starmer’s government will adopt the policy of “ruthless realism” and is willing to “fight” its opponents if they want to deepen economic relations with the EU on Tuesday.

Nick Thomas-Simonds told a Brussels audience that he was looking for a “ambitious” result of the discussion, which would focus on the leaders of the EU-UK on May 7.

People who were briefed at the summit say it will be held in the UK, with the EU to establish relations with the EU in relation to the spotlight. Brexit-supporting newspapers are already warning about a Starmar “surrender”.

Thomas-Simonds, who usually chose his speeches by referring to the “red lines” of Labor in any of the EU discussions, hit many more positively while addressing the annual conference of the EU-UK forum.

“Time for ideally driven category has ended now during-realism, now now,” he said, shows public support against a background of opinion survey Brexit Has fallen sharply.

Ay Eugov survey Last week, the Post-Brexit Trading Treaty of the United States was published in the fifth anniversary of the United States-it was reported that only 5 percent of the British had said that it was okay for the UK to leave the EU, compared to 5 percent of those who said it was wrong.

In a symptom that ministers are willing to face Euroseptic critics to press for advanced EU relations, Thomas-Symonds quoted a lecture from Chancellor Rachel Reeves last week: “Fight will not grow”.

Starmar was in Brussels for dinner with EU 2 27 leader on Monday night, for the first time since Brexit participated in a British Premier European Council meeting.

After the meeting, Council President Antonio Costa surprised British officials that the long-planned EU-UK summit would be held on May 7.

The summit will be held in Britain after the local elections on May 7, though Starmar will start exploring the alternatives to strengthen the UK’s economic and security relations with Brussels.

In addition to Thomas-Simonds Defense and Protection Cooperation, it determines the objective objectives such as reducing barriers in food business. However, ministers are also searching for the EU and the UK carbon markets and the limited form of the Pan-European tariff agreement.

The summit is seen as an important moment of negotiating with the EU – but not the last point. Brussels is looking for several discounts from Starmer, including continuous access and youth mobility schemes on the British Fishing Ground.

UK Party leader Nigel Farage, who resulted in a resort to the resort to the resort, said on Tuesday that Starmar had “insults” on Monday’s Palice D’zmont on Monday’s dinner.

It was in the same palace where conservative Prime Minister Edward Heath signed the agreement to take Britain into a European economic community – 1 in 1972 – the EU pioneer -.

Starmer’s “red lines” prevent Britain re -joining Britain to a single market or customs union, or re -sending the free movement, strictly restricting any possible economic gain from an agreement with the EU.

The EU Commissioner, who is in charge of the UK discussion, told the conference that the Brexit agreements signed by the latest Conservative Government were “great” but “there was a Base Base on which we could build further”.
