The school board meeting turned into a parade of competitive hysterical bickering between worried parents and transgender activists Thursday night amid the national controversy surrounding a transgender athlete on the cross country team.
Riverside Unified School District (RSD) held board meeting at their office in Riverside, Calif., to address concerns about student athletes at Martin Luther King High School and students who were disciplined for wearing “Save Girls’ Sports” T-shirts.
The meeting followed weeks of build-up as hundreds of students at Martin Luther King High School and other schools in the district wore the shirts against the school’s wishes. Hundreds of students gathered every Wednesday to wear the shirts, and many were detained for wearing them, until schools stopped disciplining students the week of December 11.
Ahead of the meeting, protests by pro-transgender activists and “Save Girls’ Sports” activists gathered in front of the RUSD District Office.
After the meeting began, speakers were invited to share their thoughts on the situation. Many of the parents who spoke out against the district for allowing the trans athlete to compete with the girls came wearing T-shirts themselves.

One of the first parents to speak out against the district for allowing trans inclusion was a mother identified only as Sandy R. The mother complained hysterically that her name was revealed to pro-trans activists outside the assembly hall. She feared she would be “doxxed” for her views and said she intended to file a harassment report.
Sandy then denounced the entire board for flouting Title IX in favor of California state law.
Another parent pointed out that the school district’s curriculum even includes textbooks that teach the genetic differences between biological males and females. Mother took out her ninth grade biology textbook and read a passage that explained that men are born with XY chromosomes while women are born with XX chromosomes.
She then held up photos of students who were punished for wearing t-shirts that said “XX (does not equal) XY.”
“This is what you did to the students who wore the shirt I’m wearing tonight, because they asserted a biological fact that is in your textbook, it’s part of your curriculum. Are we going to tape the textbooks next? If that happens, we won’t teach science?” she shouted. “You’re denying biological facts to avoid hurting someone’s feelings, and that’s not okay!”
The mother then referred to an allegation in a recent lawsuit filed by two girls’ school runners that the school compared their shirts to swastikas.
Another mother, identified only as Colleen, was already screaming before she took to the podium, criticizing the board for allowing pro-trans activists in the office to promote pro-trans sentiment, and compared it to their treatment of young men who they want to switch to women’s sports for a competitive advantage.
“Your job is to teach these people self-control, and you’re not doing that!” she shouted. “It’s all about their self-esteem, and you’re setting them up for failure! They’re not going to hand the world over to them. The world isn’t going to adapt because ‘I can’t make it in this sport, so I’m going to join this sport now because I can do better there! Do your job!
Later, a mother named Maria Karillo began her speech by warning all the children in the room to leave. She then recited sexually explicit lines from school-approved books available at RUSD high schools to drive home the point, before slamming the school for labeling concerned parents as “agitators, MAGA disruptors.”
“We are parents here who care about our children and we are exercising our constitutional right to talk to you, the leaders of our community, about our children’s problems,” she said. “I want to know why the teachers union is sending us emails calling us cruel.”
One mother, Patty Clauda, who spoke Spanish with the help of an English translator, began her tirade by mocking the school board for not knowing the difference between male and female before expressing her fear that girls would have to share locker rooms with biological males .
“They change in front of men!” she said through a translator.

At the end of her tirade, Clauda stopped using the translator to speak in English directly to the board, screaming at the top of her voice.
“What really concerns me more is that I have actual biological women standing in front of me and you are not advocating for the young ladies in this school district and allowing these young ladies to be bullied, harassed and discriminated against! creating a hostile environment for these children to be educated! Shame on you whatever! Clauda screamed.
Several concerned parents called for Superintendent Renee Hill’s resignation during their speeches.
At one point, the student-athlete even got a chance to speak and got emotional because she expressed the fact that she, as a biological woman, has no real chance of competing with biological men.
“In no universe will the most dedicated woman beat the most dedicated man,” she said as she choked.
But pro-transgender activists also got a chance to speak. Multiple speakers who expressed support for trans inclusion thanked the committee for allowing trans athletes to compete with girls and encouraged it to continue to enable and protect these athletes.
One trans activist event went so far as to falsely claim that the XY chromosome is disappearing from the human gene pool and that all humans will eventually be born with the XX chromosome.
The many pro-trans speeches in attendance were met with boisterous cheers and waving of LGBTQ pride flags.
California has had laws protecting transgender athletes in women’s sports since 2014. That year, AB 1266 took effectgiving California students at the school and university level the right to “participate in sex-segregated school programs and activities, including athletic teams and competitions, and use facilities consistent with his or her gender identity, regardless of the gender listed on the student’s record.”

In a statement previously provided to Fox News Digital, RUSD said it allowed a transgender athlete to compete on the team because it had to comply with California state law.
“It is important to remember that RUSD is required to follow California law that requires students to be ‘allowed to participate in sex-segregated school programs and activities, including athletic teams and competitions consistent with his or her gender identity, regardless of their stated sex.’ students'”, the press release states.
The school said those upset about it should direct their anger at state and federal lawmakers.
“As these things play out in our courts and media, opposition and protests should be directed at those who can influence these laws and policies, including officials in Washington, DC and Sacramento,” the statement said.
