Pete Hegsetth swore like Minister of Defense On Saturday morning, proclaiming it with a “honor of life,” and promised to put America first, bringing peace through strength.
Hegsetth, 44, former Minnesota National Guard officer who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, was given the role of leading Pentagon after a week of an intense political drama that surrounded his nomination and public control in his private life.
“All thank you and glory to God. Let him be his will and we are grateful to be here,” said Ekstanic Hegsetth after he laid the oath, surrounded by his wife Jenny and the children.

Trump congratulated Hegseth on Truth Social on Friday and said he would “be a great” defense minister. Other Republicans praised his certificate, anticipating that he would bring transformative changes Pentagon.
Hegsetth continued to praise the veterans and those who served with him in the past, as well as 1.3 million active members of the service and almost one million civilians working for the army he now leads.

Shortly after he passed the oath, Hegsetth published a statement through the Ministry of Defense website, addressing Pentagon members. The statement referred to his three principles.
“All this will be done with a focus on killer, meritocracy, responsibility, standards and willingness,” the statement reads.
“I dedicated my life to fighters and their families. Just as my fellow soldiers kept my back on the battlefield, know that I will always keep your back. Let’s serve together at a dangerous moment. Our enemies will neither release nor give up. And we won’t either. . We will stand side by side to meet the urgency of this moment. “
“Like any of you, I love my country and I swore to defend the Constitution. We will do it every day, as one team. We will do the president’s mission of deterrent from the war and, if necessary, defeat and destroy our enemies!”
