Six Palestinians killed as Israel launches operation in Jenin

At least six Palestinians have been killed and 35 injured after Israeli security forces launched a major operation in Jenin in the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian Ministry of Health said.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the Israeli army, police and Shin Bet security forces had launched a “major and important” operation to “eliminate terrorism” in Jenin.

Palestinian journalists reported that the Israeli army moved into Jenin and its refugee camp on Tuesday morning following several drone strikes.

This comes after a weeks-long operation on the camp by Palestinian soldiers who have been fighting armed groups they see as challenging their rule.
