Kid Rock got the party started at President-elect Trump’s MAGA Victory Rally on Sunday afternoon, performing “Sweet Home Alabama” to open his set at Capital One Arena in Washington, DC
After performing his gritty 2022 song, “We The People,” which includes lyrics like “We all bleed red, brother, hear of me/It’s time for love and unity,” the rocker left the stage to fans who chanted “U.S. ”
Ahead of the show, the singer stopped by “Fox & Friends Weekend” to talk about the palpable energy shift he’s felt in the capital and Hollywood.

“I feel like the rebirth of our nation,” the musician, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie, told hosts Lawrence Jones, Steve Doocy, Ainsley Earhardt and Brian Kilmeade. “That’s how I felt at the UFC fight after the election, everyone was together, you know, walking to the ring,” he told New York City.
“There’s just this overwhelming feeling… you’ve heard it a million times, that America is back,” the “Born Free” singer explained.

Kid Rock also talked about how, since Trump secured the Oval Office in November, Hollywood seems to have embraced him as the nation’s leader, less hesitant to express its support.
“Now they think it’s safe to go in the water after dipping their toe in it for four to eight years,” he joked. “I mean, welcome to the party, like I said. Better to have them than not,” he added.
Carrie Underwood, known to be removed from the political scene, stunned some when it was announced last week that she would be performing “America the beautiful” on Trump’s inauguration: “I love our country and am honored to be asked to sing at the inauguration and be a small part of this historic event,” the country superstar said in a statement.
Jason Aldean, a longtime Trump supporter, has also been tapped to perform at the Liberty Ball, as well rapper Nelly.

Actors Sylvester StalloneMel Gibson and Jon Voight were appointed by Trump last week as “special ambassadors” to “a great but very troubled place, Hollywood, California,” and all had either positive things to say publicly about Trump or were supportive of him. Voight was also in attendance at Sunday’s rally.
“There’s a complete change in the air, there’s a complete change in everything,” Kid Rock continued.

“[People] saw what he did the first time. And when you really look at the facts and figures and how great it was, it’s only going to get better from there. The feeling is everywhere,” he said. “Especially if you’re on our side — it’s through the roof. But I think people, all reasonable people, I feel, you know, are understanding, if only we had a reasonable Democrat.”

“Like, it’s okay…we think differently about a lot of things, but if you’re a reasonable person, and I really have to emphasize ‘reasonable,’ because god knows there are fruitcakes out there.”
