Florida Republican Senator Marco Rubiowho was chosen to lead the State Department in the second Trump administration, was repeatedly interrupted by protesters during his Senate hearing on Wednesday.
One female protester was heard yelling at Rubio in Spanish, while at least two men, including one wearing pink, were seen being dragged out of the hearing by Capitol Police after shouting.
“I get bilingual protesters,” Rubio joked after a protester yelled at him in Spanish, prompting laughter from the crowd.
Before the hearing began Wednesday morning, Fox News Digital spotted Code Pink protesters wearing bright pink clothing with T-shirts reading “arms of Iran” and “stop killing Gaza’s children.” They also had anti-Rubio stickers on their headbands and hats.

The protesters were warned by the chair of the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs before the hearing began so as not to disrupt the proceedings, saying they would be removed from the hearing and not allowed to return to the public hearing for at least a year.

“Disruptions will include not only noise, not only standing, not only holding painted hands, painted signs. None of that will be allowed. If you do that, I will pause the commission. I will ask our friends, first of all, my, my faithful sergeant here — who is, perhaps, stronger than the Capitol Police, but also than The Capitol Police help. And we will pause for a moment… If you are removed, you will not be allowed to return to one of these public hearings for at least 12 months. And that’s the purpose of this, as I said, and that’s important work,” Idaho Republican Sen. James Risch, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said in opening remarks.

Energy Department nominee Chris Wright’s confirmation hearing was also interrupted by protesters on Wednesday, who chanted whether his policies would “put out the fires in LA.”
Protesters also disrupted Pete Hegseth’s Senate confirmation hearing on Tuesday, when he joined the Senate Armed Services Committee, when lawmakers attacked him before the committee’s vote and the final vote on his nomination for defense secretary.

“Veterans kill each other and they’re homeless, but we’re sending money to bomb children in Gaza,” one uniformed protester shouted as she was escorted out of the hearing, Fox News Digital video shows.
An elderly man who was handcuffed to zip ties was also seen being escorted out of the hearing. The other man, who also appeared to be wearing a uniform, was seen being taken away by the Capitol Police.
Sen. Rep. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., asked Hegseth about the protesters during his hearing, including about the 2023 war in Israel.
“Another protester, and I think this one was a member of Code Pink, which, by the way, is a Chinese Communist front group these days, said you support Israel’s war in Gaza. I support Israel’s existential war in Gaza. I guess, like me and the President Trump, you also support that war,” Cotton said.
