President-elect Donald Trump On Tuesday, he said he would create an “External Revenue Service” to collect “FeesDuties and all revenues from foreign sources.

Trump did not provide further details about the proposed government entity.

Currently, US Customs and Border Protection is responsible for fee collection.

“For too long, we have relied on taxing our Big People using the Internal Revenue Service (IRS),” Trump wrote in a Social Truth post.

“Through soft and pathetically weak trade deals, the American economy has brought growth and prosperity to the world, while imposing on us,” Trump wrote.

“It is time to change. Today I am announcing that I will create the FOREIGN REVENUE SERVICE to collect our Fees, Duties, and all Revenues that come from Foreign sources,” he wrote.

“We are starting to charge those who make money off of us with the Trade, and they are starting to pay, FINALLY, their fair share.”

CNN last week he said Trump was considering declaring a national economic emergency to clear the way for him to implement the tariffs he wants to impose. He said he would increase tariffs on imports from China by 10%, and impose tariffs of 25% on products from Canada and Mexico.

Asked for additional details of the plan for the new agency, Trump spokesman Steven Cheung told CNBC in an email, “I want to refer you to President Trump’s post on Social Truth.”
