FOX Corporation donates $1 million to American Red Cross California wildfire relief efforts to support affected residents wildfires are raging across Southern California.

Residents have been forced to flee as wildfires continue to rage across Southern California. By midday Thursday, the fires had burned more than 27,000 acres, Cal Fire said. At least five people are dead and at least 130,000 people have been ordered to evacuate their homes, according to authorities.
Photos and videos told stories of devastation and loss, as homes and businesses burned and thousands of people were forced to flee their communities. The Palisades Fire, fueled by strong Santa Ana winds, started in the Santa Monica Mountains late Tuesday morning and quickly consumed 200 acres within an hour, growing to nearly 3,000 acres by sunset, FOX Weather reported.

The Red Cross immediately sent hundreds of American workers to help Southern California residents escape the area and is mobilizing “hundreds” more to support victims, they said. They are preparing trucks full of supplies such as cots, blankets and water to be ready to support thousands of people in emergency shelters if needed.
“The Red Cross is focused on ensuring that everyone has a safe place to stay and that no one faces this heartbreaking crisis alone,” they wrote in a statement.

They urged residents to remain “vigilant” as the fires continue to rage.

“A combination of dry fuels, hurricane-force winds and low humidity have fueled the fires, complicating efforts to contain the fires as they consume tens of thousands of acres. The threat is not over,” the organization said. “Critical fire weather will continue through Friday and then again next week. It is imperative that people remain vigilant, be prepared to evacuate and follow the instructions of local authorities as this situation continues to develop.”
